Leones Negros finishes the tournament with a grey squad

After living their last game of the tournament, Joel Sánchez recognized that his team was a grey squad throughout the Apertura 2016. For the coach of the University of Guadalajara, the lackluster draw against Lobos BUAP was a reflection of what they showed during the season.

Hurt and with frustration at the surface, the coach of the university team indicated that the draw was too costly, as this result will prevent them from participating in the Copa MX in the next football semester.

"It was a very, very costly draw considering the result after having achieved positive momentum. The result is completely off plans, but it is there and it ends up being a reflection of what we were in the tournament, especially at home, a grey team that didn't know how to make the most of the home field advantage in a beautiful stadium that really weighs. As a consequence, we leave with a draw that tastes like nothing. The situation is like this and we have to face it as it should be," he said.

Already thinking about the next tournament, Joel Sánchez warned that the players who want to stay in the team must show improvements in many of their attitudes. Although he didn't want to give further details, "Tibu" revealed that the university board has already listened to and approved his requests for the Clausura 2017.

"We were a team with many ups and downs, we had a good preseason, everything was well-rounded in every sense, from preparation to integration, we were a team with many new faces. We have to improve in every sense, in attitude, concentration, intensity, and results, which is what people like. We want a much more intense team and obviously a team that wins," he concluded.

After drawing with Lobos, the university team will take a short vacation and will report to Club La Primavera starting on November 27th to begin preseason training. The "Tiburón" Sánchez announced that there will be five friendly matches included in the preparation of Leones Negros.

The Fact:

With the result against Lobos, Leones did not qualify for the next Copa MX.

UdeG only achieved one victory as the home team in the tournament.
