The Wolfsburg, of Peruvian Carlos Ascues, announced this Monday the dismissal of their coach Dieter Hecking after a bad start to the season in which, after seven matchdays, the team occupies 14th place in the Bundesliga standings.
The Frenchman Valerien Ismael, coach of the Wolfsburg U23 team, will temporarily take charge of the first team.
Wolfsburg has gone six matchdays without a win and the final blow for Hecking was the defeat on Sunday against Leipzig by 1-0.
Hecking joined Wolfsburg in January 2013. In 2015, he led the Volkswagen team to win the German Cup and also qualified it as the German runner-up for the Champions League.
Hecking's dismissal is the third to occur this season in the Bundesliga. Before, Bruno Labaddia had to leave his position as coach of Hamburg and Viktor Skripnik was fired at Werder Bremen.
