Diana Gonzales is the new president of the Peruvian Volleyball Federation and takes over from Luis Linares who was in charge for 4 years at the head of the highest entity in the sport of mates. The new head of the FPV was a player and belonged to the generation of Vivian Baella, Raffaella Camet, and Clarivett Yllescas.
The 24-year-old from Arequipa has the academic credentials to be at the head of the FPV with a master's degree in Business Administration, graduated in the United States. Gonzales was the only candidate and obtained 32 votes in favor (2 were blank).
As an athlete, Diana Gonzales was part of the group of the first 'Matadorcitas' led by Natalia Málaga and was the setter of the youth team. Her achievements include bronze in Singapore and was part of the team that finished sixth in the 2009 World Championships in Thailand.
See progress. "One of the biggest challenges we have is for each category to work with its players. We need to work on the foundations and I would ask for more patience from the public, we are in a generational change and we need support," she explained to RPP.
Her age is not an impediment. "I am 24 years old, more than 15 in volleyball. I have worked in the Federation since I arrived and I believe that everyone's clock is very different, I have a career that supports me, a master's degree. I know that I have a lot to learn and I want to do it, especially because of the experience I have had as a player," she concluded.
