Christian Cueva (25 years old) went through one of his worst moments as a player for Sao Paulo when hundreds of fans bypassed security and entered training to confront the players and coaching staff for the poor results so far in the season.
The facts. According to the Brazilian press, some players like Wesley and Michel Bastos were assaulted, but 'Cuevita' managed to escape due to his good performances since joining the 'Tricolor' team. It was the defender Diego Lugano who took on the role of captain and asked the enraged fans to remain calm.
Crisis. Currently, Sao Paulo is in 11th place in the Brasileirao table with 27 points out of 63 possible and has only won one game out of the last 9. The fans accuse the management of being corrupt and the players of not putting in enough effort.
Theft. The Sao Paulo executives reported that some fans took advantage of the commotion to steal at least 10 training uniforms and 14 balls.
Background. Christian Cueva had a similar situation in February 2015 when he was with Alianza Lima. On that occasion, a group of fans confronted him about his poor performance and the Peruvian midfielder responded with insults.
