Independiente del Valle and Atlético Nacional face each other tonight for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores 2016 final. On this occasion, the Ecuadorian team played at home at the Olímpico Atahualpa Stadium in Quito.
This match, for the best club tournament in America, was highly contested by both teams, especially in the first half. At 36', one of Atlético Nacional's star forwards appeared to give his team the advantage.
Orlando Berrío, the starting forward for Atlético Nacional, received a pass from Macnelly Torres. Surrounded by up to three opponents, he held off the defense to gain control of the ball in front of Independiente del Valle.
Instead of facing the goal, Berrío took a precise right-footed shot that the goalkeeper Azcona couldn't stop. The goalkeeper had little visibility of the ball prior to the shot.
On the other hand, for the second leg, the Colombian player Sebastián Pérez will miss the final due to accumulation of yellow cards (received one at 20').
