Surf Gives Us Joy Again

Peru conquered two gold medals after the outstanding performances of Piccolo Clemente and María Fernanda Reyes in Santiago 2023.

The surfer born in Cajamarca defeated Chilean Rafael Corte in Punta de Lobos Beach, in the grand final. It is worth remembering that Clemente had already won gold in Lima 2019, making him a two-time Pan American champion.

Similarly, in women's longboard, Mafer Reyes also won the gold medal after defeating Brazilian Chloe Calmon, the same competitor she beat in Lima 2019.

Finally, Lucca Messinas defeated Venezuelan shortboard Francisco Bellorin in the final, achieving the third gold medal for our country in a historic day.

Peruvian athletes Vania Torres (SUP Surf) and Miguel Tudela (shortboard) also won bronze medals.
