GOLPERU vs Liga 1 MAX: How much do they influence the choice of home ground in the Alianza - 'U' final?

When Alianza Lima intended to close the final at Monumental, there was a sudden change of heart after the Clausura Tournament ended. Universitario is eagerly awaiting the decision of the íntimos.

It is no secret that the second final will decide the national champion and, in that sense, it represents a huge interest in terms of audience for both television networks. On one hand is Liga 1 MAX, the channel that has broadcasted Alianza Lima's home games this year and is authorized by the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF). And on the other hand is GOLPERU, which has broadcasted Universitario's home games this season. So, if Alianza decides to close in the Monumental, GOLPERU will take the "jackpot" because it will broadcast the match that will define the 2023 champion. And that, for Liga 1 MAX, would be almost an own goal.

Depor was able to learn that the consideration reached the blanquiazul store from the current operator of Peruvian football; but they were informed that the decision lies entirely with the sports area of the institution, composed of coach Mauricio Larriera and sports manager José Bellina. "The football area defines the choice of the home stadium. One always evaluates, but the final decision lies with Mauricio", said Tito Ordóñez, delegate of Alianza Lima, before returning from Cusco.

Larriera and Bellina also expressed their position on the matter. "I will listen, analyze and decide. I have my convictions. I am quite convinced", said the blanquiazul coach, who will ultimately make the decision according to the strategy he plans to use in the final. However, closing in the Monumental divides the loyal fans, as some prefer to define the tie at Matute.

However, what also influences the choice of the home stadium are the dates scheduled by Liga 1 for the finals. The first leg will be played on Saturday, November 4th and the second leg on Wednesday, November 8th. Although both matches will be at 8:00 pm, the weekend match is what attracts the blanquiazules the most. At Alianza, they are used to playing in Matute on a Saturday night, as they did for most of the season. And for that to happen, they must start the final at home and then close it on Wednesday in the Monumental.

Be that as it may, the ball is in Alianza's court and in the strategy that Larriera can use for the final. The "íntimos" have to take full advantage of their home stadium. Starting at home gives an advantage in the first leg, but it can also be a risky bet.
