A pay raise for Minsa staff in Peru: What will be the new salary?
The Minister of Health, César Vásquez, announced from the Cajamarca region that a salary increase has been approved for healthcare workers nationwide. During his visit to this region, he revealed that his ministry is working to improve the economic compensation of doctors, nurses, and other professionals in the sector. "In accordance with the guidelines of President Dina Boluarte, our decision is to support the just demands of the workers. I want to tell you, as a scoop, that before leaving my office and heading to Bambamarca, I signed a salary increase for healthcare workers nationwide," Minister Vásquez declared.

The Minister of Health announced a salary increase for doctors and healthcare professionals. The increases are as follows:
- First-level doctors will receive an increase of S/500 soles.
- Fifth-level specialists will receive S/1,200 soles.
- First-level nurses, obstetricians, biologists, pharmaceutical chemists, among others, will see an increase of S/780 soles.
- Those in the highest level will receive up to S/1,565 additional soles.
- Technicians and assistants in the sector will receive an increase of S/350 soles in their salaries.
Pay raise for Minsa staff in Peru: When does it take effect?
The pay raise for Minsa staff in Peru will take effect starting from December 1, 2023.
In addition, Minister Vásquez announced that he plans to appoint around 45,000 healthcare professionals next year, in 2024. He also stated that the Executive Power authorities are carrying out various actions to incorporate workers into the Budget Law, which will be approved in the coming weeks.
