Eriberto Gutiérrez achieved the bronze medal in slalom canoeing - kayak Cross K1, at the Santiago Pan American Games 2023, adding a new award for Peru.
The athlete from Apurímac, originally from the peasant community of Huirahuacho, has been practicing kayak since he was a teenager and gave this victory to Peru after a difficult race.
"It has been a complicated, very difficult race, but this medal goes to Peru, to all those who have supported me. I feel very happy because I was able to win this medal with a lot of effort," said Eriberto, according to Andina.
