Hugo Ruiz wins gold for Peru in Pan American Games Santiago 2023

Peruvian athlete Hugo Ruiz surprised everyone by giving Peru another gold medal in the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, after his impeccable performance in the track cycling - Omnium competition, where he accumulated 125 points, surpassing Mexican Ricardo Peña (124 points) and Chilean Jacob Decar (121 points).

With this victory, Peru adds its second gold medal in these games and ranks 11th in the medal table, surpassing countries like Ecuador and Uruguay. So far, the country has won a total of 11 medals in this multisport event.

It is worth noting that Cristhian Pacheco was the first Peruvian athlete to win a gold medal in the Pan American Games Santiago 2023, achieving the Pan American double championship in the long-distance discipline.
