This weekend will be disputed the last round of the Tournament Clausura of the League 1 Betsson 2023. One of the teams that plays everything to win the title of the second phase of the championship is Sporting Cristal, who this time will face Alianza Atlético de Sullana at the Alberto Gallardo stadium. Tiago Nunes' team knows that they must get a positive result this Sunday, but the 'churres' will give their best performance to take the three points. How did they do the times that both teams faced each other?

According to the specialized portal Soccerway, there is a record of 42 matches that the rimenses and the northerners have played. From this count, we will only choose the last 10 matches, to know what results they have achieved. However, there is no doubt that the one who has the better record is the bajopontino team, which has a total of nine victories, including big wins (like the one they had in 2017). Here we tell you the details.

The celestes celebrated in front of the 'churres' in nine consecutive opportunities, since 2016 (including the match for the Copa Bicentenario 2016). Their last victory was 2-0, with goals from Diego Buonanotte and Alejandro Hohberg, in the Clausura 2022. The match with the highest number of goals in favor was in February 2017, when they won 5-0, with a goal from Ray Sandoval and two goals each from Diego Ifrán and Gabriel Costa.

However, this year Sporting Cristal couldn't win in the 90 minutes against Alianza Atlético, drawing 0-0 in Sullana. This match took place in June and, even though we were in the winter season that month, due to weather phenomena there was still a hot day, so there were more than one complaint not to play close to noon in the north.

The present of Sporting Cristal

After their recent defeat against Cienciano (1-0), Sporting Cristal finished the eighteenth round of the Clausura Tournament with 33 points and in fourth place in the standings, while in the cumulative they have 68 points and are in third place.

With these records, in the Rimac they hope that Universitario de Deportes, Melgar and Alianza Lima lose their last matches in order to win the tournament and, with that, occupy the second place in the Cumulative. With this scenario, they would play a direct final against the íntimos.
