Alianza Lima's Plan for the 2024 Season

While Alianza Lima's focus is on becoming national champions for the third time and winning the Liga 1 2023 title, the board is already planning for the 2024 season. The club aims to build a strong team to compete in all the upcoming competitions.

In that sense, the club has already compiled a list of possible reinforcements, both national and foreign players. They are also considering the departure of several underperforming players based on their performance data throughout the season.

Líbero has learned that so far, two experienced players are not guaranteed a place in the team for 2024. These players were expected to perform better this season but failed to meet expectations.

Those players are Christian Cueva and Gabriel Costa. Cueva had the opportunity to play under both coaches Alianza Lima had during the year, but he couldn't find his best performance.

Cueva was supposed to make a difference but he didn't live up to his previous performances in Brazilian football, despite the level of the Liga 1. He played 27 matches, starting in 16 of them, but failed to score a single goal. His contract expires at the end of the season.

On the other hand, Gabriel Costa, despite having a valid contract, is another player who might not continue in 2024. The winger participated in 26 games, starting 18 times and scoring 4 goals.

Despite the difficulties that players may face, such as adaptation and injuries, the sports management believes they had enough time to become key players in the team, which did not happen.

Regardless of whether they win the trichampionship or not, it is known that both players are not considered for the team that will participate in the 2024 Copa Libertadores.

Alliance Lima Lost Their Chance in the Clausura

The sports aspect of Alianza Lima is currently going through a rough patch. Despite playing at home (Matute Stadium), the team practically said goodbye to the direct championship opportunity in the Liga 1 after a goalless draw against ADT.

Now, the team must prepare to play the title match against the winner of the Clausura, which will be either Sporting Cristal, Universitario, or Melgar.
