Universitario de Deportes secured their leadership in the standings of the Clausura Tournament with a resounding victory over UTC, on matchday 17. The "crema" squad achieved a 3-0 victory, with goals from Luis Urruti, Williams Riveros, and Edison Flores, at the Monumental stadium. Meanwhile, the Cajamarca team did not present a solid opposition. One of the most criticized players after this defeat was goalkeeper Patrick Zubczuk, who made a blooper on the third goal. In response to this situation, the goalkeeper issued a statement.
A rebound, generated by the goalkeeper of the Cajamarca team, was seized by Edison Flores, who only had to push the ball into the goal to score. In a recent statement to El Diez, the player from the northern team emphasized that there is no reason to question his professional performance.
“My professionalism is not in doubt at any time. People who know me know the kind of person I am. Today I made a mistake that made the result even more lopsided than it already was. In the previous match, against ‘U’, I was a key player. That's football,” Zubczuk said.
In addition, Patrick expressed his desire to return to Universitario to celebrate its centenary, considering it the largest club in Peru and given that this year is highly significant. Despite this, he emphasizes that he is currently committed to UTC.
“Any player would want to be there. It is the biggest team in Peru and it is a very important year. It is always a desire of mine to return to the club where I was born and raised. Right now, I owe myself to UTC and I think I have shown that 100%,” he concluded.

After defeating UTC, Universitario de Deportes will have to focus on their next challenge of the season. Their opponent will be none other than Cusco FC, a team they will visit in the challenging 'Imperial City'. Note that the date and times for this match have not yet been confirmed.
As you may recall, Jorge Fossati's squad is among the top teams in the Clausura 2023 Tournament. For this reason, the organization of the national championship will hold a draw, this Wednesday, October 4, to define the schedule for the 'merengues' and Sporting Cristal. The latter is another club that is also fighting for the second tournament of the year and will play in Cusco.
UTC, on the other hand, will have to get ready to host Universidad César Vallejo.
