  • Why does Paolo Guerrero transmit leadership and confidence in the national team?

Status of the Uninvited Players

While last Friday it was announced that Christian Cueva was uninvited from the Peruvian national team for the matches against Paraguay and Brazil due to muscle fatigue, according to the medical report of the national team, in the last few days 'Aladino' has been training alongside his teammates in Lurin and is available to Mauricio Larriera in case he wants to include him in the match against Cantolao. As it is remembered, Cueva started in the match against Alianza Sullana two weeks ago in Matute and everything indicates that he would also start this match, as he has already overcome his discomfort.

Another player uninvited for the same reason was Bryan Reyna, who besides presenting muscle fatigue, is a necessary absence considering that he was expelled in the last match and is expected to be fully fit for the next match against Unión Comercio in Matute. Finally, Carlos Zambrano, who was not called to the national team because he is in recovery time due to a tear, is already physically well and can be taken into account this weekend.

Medical Clearances

Another two good news for Alianza are that both Jairo Concha (glute tear) and Ricardo Lagos (hamstring tear) have been given the medical clearance by the club's medical department to be taken into account by the Uruguayan coach. However, it is still unknown whether they will start or not because there is no confirmed starting eleven. For now, both players who were absent against Alianza Sullana are training alongside their teammates.

On the other hand, Franco Zanelatto is also in optimal condition to reappear after suffering a sprained cruciate ligament. After a considerable time off (end of July), the winger has been given the green light by the medical area to be called up and start adding minutes. Cristian Benavente will have to wait a bit longer, as he is still not training alongside his teammates, but it is expected that he will be able to be considered in a couple of weeks.

The match between Alianza Lima and Cantolao is scheduled for this Saturday, September 9th, starting at 3:00 pm at the Iván Elías Moreno stadium for matchday 12 of the Clausura Tournament. Currently, the blanquiazul team is in fourth place in the table with 20 points, below Sporting Cristal (24), Universitario de Deportes (22), and Sport Huancayo (21).
