Alianza Lima defeated Universitario de Deportes 1-0 at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium in Matute, in the first leg of the Women's League final, forcing the team "cremas" to win by a difference of two goals in order to celebrate, this Saturday, at the Monumental stadium and in front of their loyal fans.
For this reason, the team led by coach John Tierradentro has redoubled their efforts in their recent training sessions, with the conviction of turning the tie against their classic rival in order to give their fans an unforgettable night, who are planning a very important gathering in the stands of the colossus of Ate.
According to Universitario de Deportes, more than 15 thousand tickets have been sold for the match against Alianza Lima that will crown the next champion of women's football in our country, with the blanquiazules having the first option to achieve a new star in their record.
It is worth mentioning that, by order of the organizers and local authorities, this match will only be played with local fans, with the "merengues" hoping to take advantage of this in order to turn the score around against the current two-time champions of the competition.
How is the title defined in case of a tie?
According to the women's league regulations, the champion club will be determined by the overall result after the home and away matches. In this case, Alianza Lima has one goal in their favor, so they would only need to win their second match or draw it to win the tournament. However, Universitario de Deportes could overcome that score at home and with their fans.
In that case, the "leonas" must win by a score equal to or greater than 2-0 in order to win the title. If they only win by one goal at the Monumental stadium, the title will be decided by penalties, with goalkeepers Annie Del Carpio (for "U") and Maryory Sánchez (for "íntimas") being in the spotlight.
