The Municipality of Ate closed the Granja Azul restaurant

On Tuesday, August 8, the Municipality of Ate closed the Granja Azul restaurant, one of the oldest countryside establishments in Peru.

Located in Santa Clara, the place is famous for being the birthplace of the pollo a la brasa recipe, an iconic dish of Peruvian gastronomy. Sadly, more than 10 days have passed since its closure and the situation has still not been resolved. In fact, the chicken restaurant is at risk of closing permanently.

The reasons behind the closure of the Granja Azul restaurant

Through an inspection, the Municipality of Ate found deficiencies in the Granja Azul restaurant. It seems that the establishment lacked the required safety and sanitation measures.

On one hand, the electrical panel did not have a directory and had exposed cables. On the other hand, in the kitchen, rusted and unhygienic utensils were found. Even, according to the municipality, the domestic waste containers did not have lids.

Upon identifying these problems, the relevant authority applied a provisional closure measure along with an administrative fine of 14,000 soles.

The response from the Granja Azul restaurant

Due to its closure, Granja Azul has issued a statement through its social media, detailing that they have addressed the noted observations and notified the municipal authorities. However, they have not received any response so far.
