Universitario: No Victory but an Agonizing Draw against Deportivo Garcilaso

After the match, goalkeeper José Carvallo spoke up and tried to 'calm the waters' after the result. He also took the opportunity to ensure that, despite the outcome, they remain focused on being able to win the Clausura Tournament and become national champions in 2023.
"These are football things that happen to the best teams in the world. We had many chances, unfortunately we couldn't convert them. This continues, we talked about it in the locker room and now we have to recover well and think about the match against Grau in Piura," commented Carvallo to the Golperú cameras.
With this result, the 'merengues' have positioned themselves in second place on the leaderboard, tied on points with Sporting Cristal. Despite that, he stated that they will continue to fight. "We will keep fighting until the end. We are going to fight, we are strong as a group. We cannot be the best one week and a disaster the next. The margin of error has narrowed, but we continue."
