Kung Fu Peruvian Athletes Excel at Panamerican Championship
The Peruvian athletes of Kung Fu continue to show the quality of this sports discipline in international tournaments, this time in the recent edition of the Panamerican Kung Fu Championship that took place in Markham, United States, held from August 3rd to August 6th.
The national team, composed of Mauricio Ortiz, Angelo Cachicatari, Martín Huang, André Velásquez, who are part of the Athlete Support Program (PAD) of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD), and Jan Franco Vásquez, obtained medals for the Peruvian delegation.
GOLD, SILVER, AND BRONZE MEDALS
Cachicatari had a remarkable performance in the event, obtaining two gold medals in the categories Chin kiu and Shaolin Free Hand, adding a bronze medal to his record in the Dui lian competition.
Following this winning trend, Mauricio Ortiz stood out with a gold medal in the Nandao competition, two silver medals in Sil Lun Tao and Hunggar Free Hand, and another bronze medal in Dui lian. Similarly, Martín Huang achieved a notable position by winning the gold in Free Hand and a silver in the Pudao competition.
Jan Franco Vásquez also contributed to the delegation's success by obtaining three awards: a gold in Sable, a silver in Free Hand, and a bronze in Dui lian. Finally, André Velásquez also joined the list of medalists with a silver medal in the Shaolin discipline.
These victories not only highlight the individual talent of each athlete, but also reflect the quality and level of competition that Peruvian Kung Fu has reached in the region. It is a testimony to the dedication, discipline, and passion of the national athletes, who guided by their coaches, never stop striving to represent Peru in the best way in international competitions of this ancestral discipline.
