The Uruguayan Mauricio Larriera was presented today at a press conference as the new coach of Alianza Lima, replacing Guillermo "Chicho" Salas, who left the position after a goalless draw against Universitario at Matute.
In statements to the media, the new coach of the "íntimo" team stated that he will seek to "optimize" the squad he currently has to fight for the coveted three-time championship.
"We will try to optimize the resources we have to fight for the tricampeonato. When you come to an institution like this, the goal is to be champions. Fortunately, we have become accustomed to working in these types of clubs," said Larriera.
SPORTS PROJECT
Larriera also confessed that it was the "sports project that the club seeks to implement" that motivated him to accept the offer from the blanquiazules. He also remembered his first stint at Alianza, when he was Gerardo Pelusso's assistant.
"What convinced me is the sports project that the club is trying to implement. Despite the short time I was here, it stayed in my heart. I am a very emotional person. It is like the beginning of a new life because it generates a good organism that has to do with human relationships and the sports aspect," he said.
