Alianza Lima welcomes new coach Mauricio Larriera

Alianza Lima has announced the arrival of Uruguayan coach Mauricio Larriera to take charge of the first team, following the departure of Guillermo Salas. Larriera, 52, returns to Matute after a brief stint in 2006 as part of Gerardo Pelusso's coaching staff.

As expected, Larriera's appointment has sparked reactions from various figures in the football industry, including Alianza Lima defender Ricardo Lagos. Lagos shared his thoughts on this confirmation, stating that Larriera will bring experience and leadership to the team.

"He's coming to contribute. We've heard that he's a coach with a lot of prestige and experience, so I think he will be good for us. We need to be willing to work and overcome this situation, and anyone who comes to contribute will be very important for all of us," Lagos said.

Lagos, who has been one of the players with the most minutes on the field for Alianza Lima, acknowledges that the team is going through a tough period. However, he believes that everyone must continue to give their best and work hard to achieve positive results.

"I don't know if this will be a turning point for the team, it all depends on the work of each individual. The new coach will find a team willing to work and overcome the challenges. Anyone who comes to contribute will be very important for all of us," Lagos added.

When will Mauricio Larriera take charge of Alianza Lima?

Although Larriera's arrival in Lima has been confirmed, he won't make his debut with the team until the eighth round of the Clausura Tournament when Alianza Lima faces Cusco in the imperial city. In the meantime, Colombian coach Nixon Perea will continue leading the team for the match against UTC this Saturday.
