"Professor Daniel Ahmed and his coaching staff are no longer part of our institution. We wish them much success in their future projects," said the club's statement.
Interim coach Carlos García Mezones, current coach of the reserve team, will temporarily take charge of the senior team, according to the club. In the Promotion and Reserve Tournament, García's team is currently in sixth place with 17 points.
Daniel Ahmed coached the team from the beginning of the season. He directed a total of 23 matches, with a balance of six wins, six draws, and 11 losses, numbers that ended up contributing to the coach's departure.
What's next for Atlético Grau?
After drawing with Deportivo Garcilaso, Atlético Grau will have to focus on their next match. Their opponent will be Deportivo Municipal, whom they will face on Monday, August 14 at 1:00 PM (Peruvian time), at the Iván Elías Moreno Stadium in Villa El Salvador.
So far, the team has not performed well in the Clausura tournament. They have been defeated by Alianza Lima, Carlos Manucci, Melgar, and ADT. They have only beaten Binacional, so the 'Patrimonio de Piura' must quickly rise to avoid compromising their stay in the First Division.
