It is important to note that Friday, July 28th, and Saturday, July 29th have been declared holidays by the Peruvian Government, but Thursday, July 27th of the same month has been established as a non-working day, a concept that has differences with the first term and HERE we explain you more information in the following paragraphs.

Why was July 27th declared a non-working day?

According to what is stated in Supreme Decree 151-2022-PCM, published on December 29th, 2022, it aims to create long weekends to implement domestic tourism in the country to continue promoting economic recovery.

In other words, the start of the "long holiday" will begin on Thursday, July 27th and will end on Sunday, July 30th of the mentioned month.

Which workers will be able to access the non-working day?

The Peruvian Government indicated that this date will only be aimed at those who work in public entities. In the case of the private sector, its workers will also be able to take advantage of this non-working day, but it will depend solely on a prior agreement between the employer and the employee.

What is the difference between a holiday and a non-working day?

Holidays are paid days off that do not have to be compensated; whereas non-working days require compensating the hours of work on that free date. It is important to note that holidays are defined by law.
