Gustavo Peralta, a journalist for Líbero, reports that the Brazilian club insists on changing the venue for the match that will determine the team that advances to the round of 16 of the Copa Sudamericana 2023.
"Corinthians sent a new letter yesterday to Conmebol asking for the return match against Universitario not to be played in Lima due to the Guillain-Barré syndrome, despite the Ministry of Health already stating that there is no danger and the precautions that must be taken," says Peralta's accounts.
This request was made again days after the 'Timao' coach, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, expressed his fear of traveling to the Peruvian capital due to the state of emergency declared due to Guillain-Barré cases.
"Any country with that, if there is a decree, it must be respected. We are not guinea pigs... They canceled the trip of the press professionals. Who is responsible for us traveling there and getting contaminated? Who allowed the game? There is a federal decree from the Ministry of Health and it must be respected. It is a very serious problem," said the coach in a press conference after the match in Brazil.
