The Universitario de Deportes club today published a new statement about the situation of fitness coach Sebastián Avellino, who is detained in Brazil for making racist gestures against Corinthians fans.
"Our priority as a club at this moment is the human being and the strict respect for their fundamental rights. We seek that this situation, which we consider has exceeded the limits and is being handled disproportionately, be resolved soon," they said.
WELL-BEING OF THE COACH
In the document, published on social media, the merengues directors once again highlighted that Avellino and the rest of his team were "victims of violent verbal aggression" from the stands of the Neo Química Stadium.
"This action provoked a reaction that led to the deprivation of liberty of our fitness coach (…) In this circumstance, as an institution, we believe it is our responsibility to concentrate our efforts on guaranteeing the health and well-being of the coach (…)," the statement added.
