After the 1-0 victory of Corinthians over Universitario de Deportes in Brazil, both teams will face each other next week for the return match that will define the team that qualifies for the round of 16.
For the match against Universitario, 'Timão' presented an alternate team composed of several young players, since the priority in the club is to compete for the Copa do Brasil and the Brasileirão.
On the other hand, another piece of information that has come from São Paulo is the recent addition of a young defender to Corinthians' ranks for the next three years.
"Corinthians agreed to sign defender Alexandre Junior, from Novorizontino, to strengthen the U-20 team for the next three seasons," reported SCCP News.
"The 18-year-old already played in Timão's lower categories in 2015, when he played in the U-11 category, and besides defense, he can also play as a left-back," added the information about the arrival of the football player.
However, it is unknown if the young center-back arrived in time to be registered in Corinthians' roster for the Copa Sudamericana, since without it, he will not be able to play against Universitario next week.
The second leg between Universitario vs. Corinthians will be played next Tuesday, July 18th, at Estadio Monumental de Ate, starting at 19:30 local time.
