The national midfielder announced that he plans to return to Peruvian football and that Sporting Cristal will always be his first choice. "Negotiations must take place," he said.

A year ago, Christofer Gonzales left Sporting Cristal to embark on an adventure in the Saudi Arabian league, being taken by Al Adalah; and while he had continuous playtime -accumulating 2,217 minutes in 26 games-, he never imagined he would experience relegation in the Asian country. Amidst this situation, the Peruvian National Team midfielder did not hide his desire to return to Peruvian football, prioritizing his affection for the team from the Rimac district. This is what 'Canchita' said about his possible return to Sporting Cristal.

"Sporting Cristal has the priority. I have had wonderful moments with the club. At some point, I hope the possibility of returning can arise. I am predisposed, but negotiations must take place," said the national midfielder in an interview with Golperu.

Christofer Gonzales knows that his desire to return to Sporting Cristal faces an important obstacle. What is it? He still has a contract with his current team, which must be analyzed thoroughly in Rimac. Will 'Canchita' return to the Liga 1 Betsson?

"Without a doubt, there is a desire to return to Peruvian football. I always watch the games. Every time I step into a stadium, I feel like being on the field. I have an ongoing contract, and we will be considering some possibilities," added the current Al Adalah player from Saudi Arabia.

What is Cristal's stance on Gonzales?

In Sporting Cristal, they did not hide their intention to sign Christofer Gonzales, so Guido Bravo, the sports director of the institution, talked about the conversations they have had with the Peruvian midfielder: "We have had several conversations with Christofer and his agents. Today, in the morning, was the last meeting."

"We tried because he is a player from our club, identified with the team that will always have open doors, and he knows it. He is willing, but he has one more year in his contract with his team, and they need him to promote," added the Celestial's executive.
