The 10-year-old Chilean pilot Vicente García won first place in the Mini Max category during the Rotax MAX Challenge International Trophy (RMCIT) South America 2023 in Lima, Peru, and consequently qualified for the Grand Finals 2023 to be held at the Bahrain circuit from December 2nd to 9th.
The young athlete secured his spot for the grand event in Bahrain after an outstanding race, where he finished second, just 742 milliseconds behind the winner, at that time, the Ecuadorian Julián Rivera. However, during the technical inspection, the pilot was disqualified for driving a kart that violated the regulations. In this way, Vicente García climbed to the top of the podium to receive his trophy and the pass for the Grand Finals 2023. In the same race, the Chilean Diego Pérez finished 13th.
Another remarkable performance was achieved by Rodrigo Eckholt in the Master DD2 series, securing second place behind the Peruvian Guty Michelsen, who recorded a time of 14 minutes 21 seconds and 286 milliseconds. Eckholt finished 5.259 seconds behind. The other Chilean participants were: Cristián Cornejo in 8th place, Andrés Hurtado in 10th place, Alejandro Valencia in 18th place, and Christopher de Frahan in 19th place.

For over a decade, the RMCIT South America, considered the most important karting event in the region, has welcomed several high-level international competitors who have later moved on to important categories in local and international motorsport. The tournament in Lima featured 290 pilots from 20 countries in South America, Asia, Europe, and the United States.
The Chilean pilots will now return to the country to continue competing in the Rotax Max Challenge Karting Tournament of Chile. The next round, the fifth, will take place on July 22nd at the Melipilla Las Perdices kart track.
