The last Monday, Christian Cueva did not attend the Alianza Lima training without permission from the coaching staff, a few days before the key match against Sporting Cristal in the Clausura Tournament. The white and blue board will not renew the contract of the 31-year-old player and will seek to unilaterally terminate the contract, which expires in August 2023.

Journalist Peter Arévalo, better known as 'Mr Peet', is an outspoken fan of the club and did not overlook the indiscipline committed by Cueva. In his Madrugol program, the narrator also argued that Cueva 'should not play' for the team from La Victoria and should be declared 'persona non grata in Matute'.
"What else can I say about Cueva. Cueva cannot play for Alianza anymore. Cueva has to leave or be kicked out. That's what Alianza should do. But Cueva cannot play for Alianza anymore. Let him go play his neighborhood championships, his exhibition championships. That's what he likes. Let him go," said Mr Peet on his program.
"He missed the great opportunity to make history with a team he says he is a fan of (...) Cueva came to play always. He disrespected the institution. Cueva has to be declared persona non grata in Matute," he added.
Christian Cueva apologized to the Alianza Lima fans
Through his Instagram account, Christian Cueva posted a video and apologized to the Alianza Lima fans for his behavior. "I apologize to everyone for the disappointment and annoyance I have caused since I arrived. These apologies are especially for the Alianza Lima fans who, game after game, give me their unconditional support," he explained.
