Universitario de Deportes will have a tough task in securing their place in the next round of the Copa Sudamericana 2023 this Thursday, June 8, when they visit Independiente Santa Fe in Bogota, a vital encounter where both teams define their future in the competition.

The team led by Jorge Fossati is preparing in the best possible way to take the three points from the Colombian capital, but the 'Cardenal' team is also doing the same, as only the three points will suffice for them not to be eliminated.
However, for the 'U' and against the 'albirrojo' team, these latter ones will not be able to count on three important players in the coach's scheme, Gerardo Bedoya. "These days we have already built a base, but we will see what is best to face Universitario. We cannot count on Enamorado, Morelo, and Roa. We made modifications and gave it a different management, we sought alternatives," said the coach to the local press.
Why won't they be able to count on those three players against Universitario?
The reason why Independiente Santa Fe will not be able to have Wilson Morelo, Juan Roa, and Jose Enamorado is due to suspension. The first two players were sent off in the last match against Gimnasia, while the last one received his second yellow card in the competition.
Other players could also be absent
Likewise, Bedoya announced that Jeferson Rivas (forward), Jersson Gonzalez (midfielder), and Julian Millan (defender) could miss the match due to injury. "Rivas, Jersson, and Millan continue under the supervision of the Medical Department," added the coach.
