Sports journalist Omar Ruiz de Somocurcio spoke out following Alianza Lima's resounding victory over Binacional with a score of 6-1 at Matute, which crowned them as the winners of the Apertura Tournament.
Hernán Barcos's Move Questioned
Via Panamericana Televisión's TikTok, the host of "Teledeportes" also questioned Hernán Barcos's move for Pablo Lavandeira's goal, the sixth of the match. The journalist described both blanquiazules' actions as "excessive risk."
"I personally didn't like that penalty move. It seemed like an excessive risk, it could have gone very wrong [...] it made headlines worldwide because it turned out well in the end, but it could have gone badly and would have been seen as disrespectful to the opponent," he said.
Apertura Championship Highlighted
However, de Somocurcio highlighted Alianza Lima's achievement in winning the Apertura Tournament and stated that their notable superiority in the local league should also be reflected in the Copa Libertadores.
"Alianza Lima is a very deserving winner of the Apertura for me, and we hope that next week they can validate this in the Copa Libertadores against Atlético Mineiro at Matute," he said.
