Universitario de Deportes is celebrating

One day like yesterday (May 20th), but in 1913, Lolo Fernández was born, the greatest legend of the club. Teodoro, his real name, is synonymous with success and incredible anecdotes, one of which has caught the attention of Peruvian football fans.

Carlos Galván se refirió a lo que fue su apresurada llegada a Universitario de Deportes.

It turns out that in his youth, Fernández enjoyed playing football with his friends from the neighborhood in Cañete, but while practicing shots, the ball always found the adobe wall of a church. The strong kicks from the legend made the walls rumble and crack. But it didn't stop there, the incredible fact surrounds the idea that so many contacts with the wall revealed a great secret.

It was a deceased person buried in that column, as one of his brothers recounts in this video that we will show you below. Lolo's relative was very insistent in mentioning that the only way to score a goal, if you wanted to, was for the ball to collide with the wall, and that's why it wore out.

'Lolo', far from remembering that anecdote with sadness or sorrow, remembered it happily emphasizing that the wall had to be fixed out of obligation, as the hole revealed the deceased person's coffin.

How many titles did 'Lolo' Fernández win at Universitario de Deportes?

Fernández is the greatest idol of Universitario not only for the high level he displayed in the past, but also for the national championships he won. With the U, he lifted the trophies of the 1934, 1939, 1941, 1946, 1947, and 1949 seasons.
