The Cienciano team is having an irregular season in the Liga 1. After drawing against Deportivo Garcilaso, they are currently in tenth place in the Apertura Tournament and one of their idols came forward to criticize the current management of coach Leonel Álvarez.

Cienciano drew against Deportivo Garcilaso in the 15th round of the Apertura Tournament and only won two of the last five matches. They are eleven points behind the leader (Universitario) with no chance of winning the first phase of the championship.
From his social media accounts, the 2003 Copa Sudamericana champion with Cienciano, Julio García, asked a question about Leonel Álvarez.
"Serious question: Does anyone know what Leonel Álvarez's project is about in Cienciano?" he wrote on his social media.
