The Brazilian is the new coach of the Peruvian women's national team
The former coach of Brazil and Ecuador, Brazilian Emily Lima, will lead the national women's team, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) reported.
"We are pleased to bring in a highly prestigious professional in the world of women's football. She has been the coach of Brazil and Ecuador. We are confident that she will leave a mark with the players," said Agustín Lozano, president of the FPF.
Lima, 42, who will work with an all-female coaching staff, will replace Peruvian coach Conrad Flores.
"The Federation is making a very important bet in this case," said the Brazilian, who in 2016 became the first woman to coach a senior women's team in Brazil.
Under her leadership, the 'Canarinha' won the International Tournament of Selections. In 2019, she took charge of the Ecuadorian national team, with which she unsuccessfully competed in last year's Copa America in Colombia.
"Women's football is my life and the whole technical staff that is walking with me. We come with a lot of enthusiasm to work," Lima highlighted in statements released by the FPF.
"We must achieve a change in the mentality of the players, but also of the people who will work closely with us. Working together, we will achieve our goals and gradually change women's football," she added. AFP
