What happens with the Blanquiazul Fund and how do you explain the crisis when Alianza Lima is doing well?

Absolute leader in Liga 1 and competing in the Copa Libertadores, the sporting side of Alianza Lima has been overshadowed in recent days by internal disputes in the White and Blue Fund.

Last Thursday, Willax Sports reported that Fernando Farah, Salomón Lerner, and Antonio Armejo, members of Fondo Blanquiazul, were willing to sell their ownership due to personal reasons. This information could be confirmed by Depor, who also corroborated that there were two companies and/or individuals interested in being part of Alianza Lima.

These are Carlos Jiro Hiraoka, general manager of the Company Yi Chang, and José Ignacio de Romaña Letts, director of Volcan Cia Minera SAA. However, an agreement was never reached and in recent days both Farah and Armejo would have withdrawn their position to sell.

What happened with Lerner? Depor could learn that members of Fondo Blanquiazul would be interested in buying his ownership if he continues with the intention of selling them in their entirety. Nothing is defined yet. But in La Victoria, they are convinced that the people who remain in charge of the institution must be fans of the club (referring to the Hiraoka family, related to Universitario).

It should be remembered that in 2012 Alianza Lima entered a bankruptcy process, which was led by the temporary administrations of Susana Cuba, Christian Bustos, and Renzo Ratto, who left his position in 2019. That year, Fondo Blanquiazul bought the main ownership of the club from the SUNAT, becoming the main creditor.

The members of Fondo Blanquiazul are Diego Gonzales Posada, Salomón Lerner, Remigio Morales Bermúdez, Fernando Farah, Antonio Armejo, and César Torres. Meanwhile, Fernando Salazar is the current administrator of the intimate institution.

What about the sports aspect?

The internal problems of Alianza Lima were exposed when Salomón Lerner, in an interview with El Comercio, commented on Christian Cueva's physical condition. "We had hope that Cueva would perform better, but he is not in a good physical condition," said the executive.

This message was not well received by the club's players, especially by Hernán Barcos and Carlos Zambrano, who came out to defend the Peruvian national team midfielder.

  • Hernán Barcos: "He (Cueva) is fine, he is calm, they want to destabilize, but they won't succeed. Both us, the coaching staff, and the directors, we are all together. There won't be any problem or anything that can surprise us," said the 'Pirate'.
  • Carlos Zambrano: "We are teammates, we are going to protect ourselves. Whatever happens, good or bad, has to be resolved at home, not talking to the press, communicating among ourselves, among teammates. We stand with Cueva. The executive, with all due respect, could come to us and talk to us, I think we would understand," said the defender.
