In an exclusive interview for Deporte Total El Comercio, Salomón Lerner, a member of the Blanquiazul Fund, gave his point of view on the performance of one of Alianza Lima's star signings of this season: Christian Cueva.
"The person we had high hopes for to perform better is Christian Cueva. Unfortunately, Cueva is not in good physical condition and has not had the positive performance we expected for the Copa Libertadores," said the executive to DT El Comercio.
Cueva is expected to have an immediate impact, and rightfully so, he has the experience and quality, but Lerner insists: "I would say he has not performed. Maybe he needs more training, physicality, and bonding with his new teammates, but what he did was not what we expected," he mentioned after the goalless draw against Athletico Paranaense.
For this reason, through the social media platform Twitter, the striker Hernán Barcos referred to the statements of the director and responded to him from his account with over 170 thousand followers.
"It is a pity, it is unfair, inopportune, and unethical, the words and opinion given by Mr. Salomón Lerner, about a player like Cuevita who has given so much and still has a lot to give to his national team and club," 'El Pirata' began.
“It is not understood what interests may be above the club at a time when we are fighting for the championship and in the Copa Libertadores. Alianza is above all,” he stated.
DT El Comercio was able to confirm that it is the official account of Hernán Barcos through the press department of the club.
