Pedro Gallese, goalkeeper of Peru's National Soccer Team, has been accused by a Spanish police officer and detained in a police station in Madrid, according to Alberto Farje, the General Director of Peruvian Communities Abroad and Consular Affairs.

The official stated that the Peruvian goalkeeper was accused of allegedly assaulting one of the Spanish police officers during a brawl that occurred during a fan gathering of the "Blanquirroja" (Peru's National Team).

"In a confusing incident, a brawl broke out and at this moment Mr. Gallese is being held captive due to the police officer's accusation of assault," stated Farje in an interview with RPP.

As it is known, the incidents between the members of the Peruvian National Team and the Spanish Police took place this afternoon outside the hotel where the "Blanquirroja" is staying in Madrid, in preparation for the friendly match against Morocco. Pedro Gallese, along with José Carvallo, Yoshimar Yotún, and Alex Valera, were the players involved.

Earlier, once the facts were known, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated that the General Consulate of Peru in Madrid and the Embassy in Spain are providing assistance to the members of the Peruvian soccer team after the incident.
