In October of last year, after failing to secure a spot in the Liguillas with Atlas in the Mexican league , Edison Flores visited the High Performance Center of Universitario , the club of his heart. There, in the middle of the venue, 'Orejas' confessed, "I hope to return one day and win important things." At that time, such a return seemed quite distant, but at the beginning of the year there were rumors that it could indeed materialize. The lefty was not going through his best moment in Atlas , and the cream leadership headed by Jean Ferrari sought his loan to strengthen the team, at that time led by Carlos Compagnucci. His time at DC United continued to go unnoticed, and in May 2021 came the worst, one of the toughest injuries of his career: a rupture in the proximal hamstring of the hamstring tendon, which took him out for 79 days, missing 12 games with DC. The most serious part: he was left out of the Copa America 2021. At the end of three seasons, Flores had the uneven balance of 41 games with the 'capitalinos', 33 of them as a starter, and only three goals.

No Standout with Atlas
A balance that, today with Atlas and Anderson Santamaría, he also cannot reverse. In part, also, due to a thoraco-abdominal injury he suffered in February and kept him out of the field. His coach Benjamín Mora does not consider him among his regular starters in this Clausura and, under his command, 'Orejas' has only played in five games, of course, none from the start.
