Our world surfing champion, Sofia Mulanovich, recorded the havoc caused by the huaicos due to the Yaku cyclone in the district located south of Lima where she lives with her family. "My dad says that in the 55 years he has lived in Punta Hermosa, he has never experienced such a strong huaico," wrote the athlete on her official Instagram.
"We just woke up today, Wednesday, March 15. Yesterday the huaico passed, the strongest ever; look at the color of the sea," commented Mulanovich from her home in Punta Hermosa.
The aforementioned district in Lima has been one of the hardest hit by the passage of the Yaku cyclone. The rivers have overflowed, causing the flooding of several areas that have seriously affected the residents.
Therefore, the authorities ask the population to stay away from the current, as approaching it could pose a serious danger and be swept away by the strong flow.
Meanwhile, Sofia Mulanovich is requesting support from her social media, as there are thousands affected not only in Punta Hermosa, but throughout Peru. In addition, the surfer fears the passage of another huaico, as she mentioned from her Instagram that "the clouds still look charged."
