New strategist arrives
The experienced Uruguayan coach, Jorge Fossati, arrived in our country on Friday, March 3, to sign and begin his duties as the new coach of Universitario de Deportes, replacing Carlos Compagnucci.
Fossati's arrival
Upon his arrival at Jorge Chávez Airport, the Uruguayan coach expressed his happiness for the opportunity to lead the "crema" team and highlighted the greatness of Universitario and its importance in Peruvian football.
"We are happy to be in Lima again, starting another phase of our career at such a great club like Universitario. We will try to give our best and make sure the 'U' can reach the highest possible position because it is what a club of its greatness deserves," he said.
"It is a big club, therefore it has big challenges and that is what I have generally faced in my career, since I have had opportunities to coach very big teams, and this will be another similar case here," he added.
Compagnucci's Resignation
The agreement between Fossati and the club's board comes after Argentine coach Carlos Compagnucci resigned from his position after suffering his third consecutive defeat last weekend against Carlos A. Mannucci with a 2-0 score.
