Christian Cueva has until Wednesday, March 8th to finalize his arrival in La Victoria. Both parties continue in negotiations and the upcoming days will be crucial.

Depor has learned that the incorporation of Christian Cueva into Alianza Lima is not yet closed, but there are great possibilities for 'Aladino' to arrive at La Victoria. Initially, his contract would be for six months, although the intention of the blanquiazul institution was always to make a longer contract: up to two years with automatic renewal for one more, just like with Carlos Zambrano. The club believes that both players can still be exported.

What is missing? The parties are defining details, although 'Aladino' always had the intention of returning to wear the blanquiazul shirt. However, time is running out because the negotiation must be closed before Wednesday, March 8, the closing day of the Peruvian football transfer market.

As you may remember, José Antonio Bellina, sports manager of Alianza Lima, previously stated that the only player they would wait for until the last day was Christian Cueva. "It is difficult to close a squad before the transfer market. If I had to risk it, the matter is closed with one exception. He (Cueva) has some contractual issues to resolve before negotiating with him," said the leader in early January.

Although the hiring of Cueva at Alianza Lima has been discussed since the end of the last season, the situation became complicated after his difficult departure from Al-Fateh and the resolution of the CAS that favored Santos FC and forced Cueva, along with Pachuca, to pay 4.7 million dollars to the Brazilian team.

Cueva and Al-Fateh

The last time Christian Cueva played an official match was on December 30, 2022, with Al-Fateh. Days later, the footballer stated that the club owed him more than two months of payment, and he activated his exit from the institution due to breaches in the contract by the club.

To this accusation, the Arab club responded with a statement, in which it assured that the situation is not as the Peruvian player claims. "The Al-Fateh administration forwarded the file of the Peruvian duo Christian Cueva and Alex Valera, professionals from the first football team, to the club's legal advice, after they claimed that their contracts with the club had been rescinded due to delays in their financial payments, debts," the document began.

"The club's management confirmed that the duo's accusations are incorrect in everything and in detail, explaining that the players have received all their installments and the Al-Fateh administration emphasized that it will not hesitate to call on all legal avenues and legitimate methods and take all measures that preserve the rights of the club," he added.

This situation stopped Alianza Lima in their hiring process, as if Al-Fateh's claim were true, they could get involved in a legal problem. Just as it happened with Pachuca from Mexico, which now has to pay millions to Santos FC.

'Aladino' and Santos FC

On January 27, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) issued a resolution in favor of Santos FC for the transfer of Christian Cueva in 2020, without the approval of the Brazilian team's sports area for negotiations. It obliges the player and the Mexican institution to pay 23.9 million reais (almost 4.7 million dollars). If this amount is not paid, 'Aladino' would be disqualified for six months.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, February 15, FIFA issued a new resolution in the dispute between FC Krasnodar and Santos FC, for the signing of the national midfielder, ruling in favor of the Russian team. In the document, the highest entity of world football states that the Brazilian team must pay Krasnodar more than 2.3 million dollars, plus 5% interest. Likewise, the 'Peixe' must pay the sum of 116 thousand dollars as a penalty to the Russian team.
