This was revealed in a recent interview with former footballer Luis Guadalupe, to whom he confessed that this event happened in 2015 when he returned to Peru after playing for Rio Ave in Portugal.
"I came to Cristal at a time when I needed to play, and the truth is that I was given the opportunity to play. At that time, there was no budget... in the end, I had to play for free for six months, nobody knows about that," he said.
But that was not all, as the 'Mudo' also stated that when the club provided two shirts for the players, he had to pay for one of them. However, the defender affirmed that he did all this as a way to show his gratitude to the team for giving him the opportunity to grow.
"Obviously, you have to have a salary by law, they gave two shirts and one had to pay the club, but it was very good. I wanted to go to the club that gave me the opportunity to grow, to go to Europe, and then I moved to U," he explained.
