This Friday, Diego Gonzáles Posada, president of the Blanquiazul Fund, spoke with RPP Noticias and referred to the possibility of Christian Cueva being one of the team's reinforcements for the current season. The executive affirmed that, beyond the fact that the player has a fine with Santos from Brazil, he remains an option.
"Christian Cueva is an option for Alianza Lima. First, we have to see how he resolves the issue with Santos and we have already talked to him. He would be the only inclusion option in the team," said the president of the Blanquiazul Fund in an interview with Fútbol Como Cancha.
As you may remember, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) announced that Peruvian midfielder Christian Cueva must pay Santos the amount of 21 million Reais (4 million dollars) after breaking the contract that linked him to the Brazilian team to sign with Pachuca from Mexico.
"The appeals lodged by the Club de Fútbol Pachuca and Mr. Christian Alberto Cueva Bravo against the decision of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber of December 10, 2020, are partially upheld and the decision of the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber of December 10, 2020, is modified," reads the statement from CAS.
"Mr. Christian Cueva Bravo is condemned to pay Santos Futebol Clube the amount of 21,000,000 Brazilian Reais as compensation for breach of contract without just cause, plus 5% annual interest from June 8, 2020, until the date of effective payment," it concludes.

Ricardo Gareca on Christian Cueva:
"He is a fundamental player, hopefully, he finds the team that gives him the continuity that is key for him. It was always a concern in that aspect, surely for Juan as well, that the players are calm," he told Depor.
"I always wish him the best, he is a great kid. He behaved very well with us in all aspects," he added.
