Jersson Vásquez, defender of the Universidad César Vallejo, referred to the start of the 2023 Liga 1, which was marked by six walkovers by opposing clubs to the precautionary measure proposed by the Peruvian Football Federation and, in his opinion, indicated that, beyond the fact that they were able to play against Alianza Atlético, what was seen in the past matchday can be compared to the "neighborhood league."
"It's a shame what is happening. Walkovers are seen in the neighborhood, not in a professional league like ours. That saddens me. I hope that all parties come to a good solution and that, for the good of Peruvian football, this is resolved once and for all," said the former player of Universitario de Deportes and Deportivo Municipal.
On the other hand, the player regretted drawing 2-2 against the team from Sullana: "Despite everything, we earned one point, it wasn't what we wanted because we thought we were going to start Liga 1 in the best way. It's only the first match, there is still a long way to go. We didn't show our level like in Uruguay. There's also the issue of the stoppage, we didn't know if we were going to play or not. These are not excuses, it's part of it."
As a reminder, César Vallejo will have to travel to Lima to face the 4th round of the 2023 Liga 1 Betsson because they will have to play against Academia Deportiva Cantolao at the Iván Elías Moreno stadium in Villa El Salvador on Saturday, February 11th at 1:00 pm and it will be broadcast through Liga 1 MAX available on DIrecTV and Bestcable.
