Another mess. DirecTV confirmed that they will broadcast the matches of next year's local tournament, in the midst of the dispute between the FPF and eight clubs that renewed with the consortium.

In the midst of the 'war' for broadcasting rights, in which the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) and eight clubs (Alianza Lima, Universitario, Sport Boys, Binacional, Municipal, Cusco FC, Melgar, Cienciano) have shown discrepancies regarding which company will broadcast the matches of the Liga 1 2023, DirecTV has confirmed that the tournament will be available on its television channel.

DirecTV becomes the first operator to contract the new channel being prepared by the FPF and 1190 Sports, where the home matches of 11 out of the 19 participating teams in Liga 1 2023 will be shown. It has been rumored that Claro is also in talks to include it in their service, as the idea is for the new Liga 1 channel to be available on all pay-TV services and also through streaming.

And what about the GolPerú signal? The consortium has renewed with 8 teams, including such important clubs as Alianza Lima, Universitario de Deportes, Cienciano, and FBC Melgar.

GolPerú, which is in a legal battle with FPF for broadcasting rights, suffered a tough setback last Thursday, after the Seventh Civil Court issued a favorable precautionary measure to the FPF ordering "the suspension of the effects of contracts and/or any legal act related to the audiovisual broadcasting rights, for all football matches that have been celebrated by Media Networks Latin American SAC, GOLTV Latin American SAC, and Consorcio Fútbol Perú", operators of the Movistar channel.

On the same day, in a press conference, the 8 clubs - backed by the ADFP and Agremiación - reaffirmed their position to extend their links with the Consortium and expressed their confidence that they will be able to participate in Liga 1 2023.
