Ronald 'Banana' Ruiz suffered a car accident and was urgently hospitalized.

The goalkeeper Ronald 'Banana' Ruiz suffered a traffic accident in the north of the country, while traveling with his family, during the night of last Sunday. Atlético Grau, the club where the footballer plays, informed that all the people who were in the vehicle are receiving the corresponding medical attention.

According to the sports institution, the 35-year-old goalkeeper, along with his loved ones, was traveling on the Piura-Paita road and, around 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, the incident occurred. Quickly, all those affected were taken to a local clinic and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

For now, the authorities are investigating the causes of the unfortunate event. It should be mentioned that the accident occurred on the same date as 'Banana' Ruiz's son's birthday: the goalkeeper had shared an emotional post from his partner on his Instagram profile hours before.

Finally, Atlético Grau decided not to provide further details and asked its fans to "pray for the health of Ronald and his family in this difficult time". Similarly, the club led by coach Daniel Ahmed canceled the start of its preseason that had been previously planned.

Remember that Ronald Ruiz had renewed his contract with 'Albos' five days ago, ensuring his stay in the institution for the third consecutive year. Although he did not have much continuity during the 2022 season, the goalkeeper was a standout in 2021, in the spectacular campaign that ended with promotion to Liga 1.
