Last Friday, Alianza Lima announced that Wilmer Aguirre will not continue with the team next year. In response, the 39-year-old Peruvian forward wrote an emotional farewell letter to the club with which he won the championship six times.

"In 2021, I returned to the club in its toughest moment. Honestly, I felt like the happiest man on earth just by returning to my home, which is what I have always wanted. Because Alianza is my life. It is my history. With my teammates, we have overcome these last two years and became champions twice," Aguirre wrote.

Furthermore, 'Zorrito' added: "I consider myself fortunate because I have been part of this stage of the club that was filled with joy due to the bicampeonato. But now it's time to say goodbye. I will not continue with the club, but my career is not over. Thank you very much Alianza for everything you have given me and sorry for so little."

Finally, the forward wrote: "Thank you Alianza for fulfilling many of my dreams and achievements defending your colors. Thank you to the blanquiazul fans for their support and affection, for always making me feel like a fan representing them on the pitch. Thank you to each of my teammates, without their contribution, it would not have been possible to win the championship."

"Thank you to all the club's staff - cooks, equipment managers... - for all the love they have shown me. I will always carry you in my heart and wherever I may be, I will always cheer for you. Many successes to those who stay. Let's go, love of my life, for the Tricampeonato. 'Arriba Alianza'," he added.
