Universitario de Deportes confirms the continuity of Jorge Murrugarra
Universitario de Deportes is working on the assembling of its squad for the 2023 season, in which they will seek to break a nine-year title drought.
After confirming the departures of Alberto Quintero, Guillermo Larios, Nelinho Quina, Gerson Barreto, Federico Alonso, and Rodrigo Vilca, the club announced the contract renewal of Jorge Murrugarra.
The defensive midfielder, who earned the starting position in coach Carlos Compagnucci's scheme, will stay with the team until the end of the 2024 season.
"More 'crema' (loyal to Universitario) than ever," states the message shared on the 'U' social media platforms.
Regarding possible signings for Universitario, the arrival of left-back José Bolívar is likely. Bolívar emerged from the youth divisions of Universidad de San Martín and wore the Sport Boys jersey in 2021 and 2022.
