The Alianza Lima volleyball team is preparing for a new season and the hiring of coach Martin Escudero generated expectations, following his outstanding performance leading Géminis and Divino Maestro. However, in a surprising decision, the club announced the departure of the coach just one day after officially announcing him.

The club did not provide details about the reason for the dismissal, but a version circulated on social media regarding the case: the coach was accused of being a fan of Universitario. In response to what happened, the coach expressed his dismay with the club's board in an interview with Bruno Cabala.
"It's incredible that something like this can happen in this day and age. If I had worn the Municipal or Sport Boys jersey, or if Ricardo Gareca had worn the Argentina jersey, would they say that it was wrong?", explained Martin Escudero, who appeared in a viral photo wearing the Universitario attire.
"The truth is that it's very sad, I went through many screenings. I didn't lie, I said that I was a fan not only of Bayern Munich, that I didn't like Peruvian football, that was it. The people who supported me to enter, people who know about volleyball, are also very disappointed, very sad, because it's an order that comes from above.", added the coach.
Likewise, the coach lamented that work experience is not prioritized and other aspects are valued: "It seems that professionalism doesn't matter in this country. I believe that I can make this Alianza Lima team champion, which is what they really need, based on what I know and the experience I have."
In addition, Martin Escudero expressed his discomfort with the leadership of Alianza Lima, especially with the treatment he received. "(I feel) disappointed because when a Peruvian professional wants to advance, they put obstacles in his way. I don't know if the fans have more influence than the directors.", he emphasized.
"They never called me or confronted me about anything. Only the immediate boss came, the one who called me to hire me and everything, and she told me that the order came from above, there was no turning back, and we'll see the result of the upcoming championship.", he concluded.
