Universitario sanctioned for racist acts against Quevedo
Last Thursday, the sanction imposed on Universitario for the racist acts that occurred in the Monumental stadium against Kevin Quevedo in the last match was officially announced. As you may remember, in that match, a banana was thrown at the Melgar player from the stands.
"Universitario is fined 10 UIT for the events corresponding to matchday 16 of the Liga 1," says a part of the statement, which also announced the closure of the west stand for the next match.
That is to say, the merengue institution will have to pay the amount of 46,000 soles, which is equivalent to 10 UIT. Additionally, the team is warned that if these reprehensible actions are repeated, they could face even harsher sanctions. They will also have to carry out anti-racism campaigns.
Cienciano sanctioned with 15 UIT
Universitario was not the only club sanctioned for racist acts. Cienciano was also punished and their fine is even higher than that of Universitario. They will have to pay 15 UIT, in addition to the closure of the north stand of the Garcilaso stadium in the match against Stein.
Going back to Universitario, they will not be able to open the west stand for the match against Sport Huancayo on Sunday due to suspension. This means that people who purchased tickets for this section will have to be relocated.
