The former football player and former manager of Universitario de Deportes, Germán Leguía, spoke out about a possible sanction on the Monumental Stadium after a bad fan threw a banana at Kevin Quevedo during the match against Melgar, in what is a clear racist insult.

For popular 'Cocoliche', it would be unfair to close the stadium or a stand in the venue due to the bad behavior of one or two fans.
"I do not understand why you would harm an entire fan base because of one person. The regulations should have that, identify who it was, fine them, and they should not be allowed back into the stadium," he said on Radio Ovación.
"For example, if there's a 'U' - Alianza match and I send people to Matute and pay them to throw anything, they close the stadium. For two people? I do not understand that regulation, you can't harm the stadium, nor the people who have attended. Are you going to close a stand with 25 thousand people? You harm the club," he added.
For Germán Leguía, the solution is to identify who committed the racist act and prohibit them from entering the Monumental Stadium again.
"They need to see who it was and give them a punishment that prevents them from entering the stadium, I don't think they're a criminal because that reaction could have been caused by something the other person did. It's a reaction, nobody is perfect, it's wrong but in other countries they don't close stadiums, that harms football," he said.
"How can you close a stand right now when there are so many people going? They should sit the Disciplinary Commission inside the stadium to see how people react, I've seen people of the highest level at the stadium swearing, complaining. I've seen journalists playing ball and doing what they criticize in the stadium. You have to understand people's reactions," he added.
FPF Disciplinary Commission opened a process against Universitario
According to RPP, the FPF Disciplinary Commission has opened a process against the cream team for the act of discrimination against the footballer from the Arequipa team. This is stated in the document uploaded on social media by the mentioned media outlet.
Likewise, the governing body of Peruvian football indicated that both the cream team, the red and black team, and the player Kevin Quevedo have one day to present their defenses.
